ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Natural dyes derived from UK-native plants and domestic by-products, including weld, madder, berries, and onion skins, create a soft yet complex palette rooted in both landscape and everyday ritual. The inherent unpredictability of natural dyeing, combined with linen’s resistance to absorbing pigment, led to subtle variations that are embraced as part of the work, highlighting a process-led approach to making.
Colour names extend this narrative, referencing specific places and moments. Shades such as barn red and walnut brown connect the textiles back to their environments, embedding memory, movement, and personal history into the material language.
Through tactile surfaces and hand embellishment, including the incorporation of flax seeds, the collection explores intimate connections between heritage, landscape, and craft. Weaving becomes a process of translation, where material behaviour guides the outcome, encouraging a more intuitive approach to design.
Fully regenerative in concept, the collection reflects a circular lifecycle, where the material originates from and can return to the soil, reinforcing a deeper awareness of sustainability and making. Together, the samples form a tactile record of growth, transformation, and belonging, positioning linen as both material and map.
